Coronaviruses are a family of viruses and a new virus.
They look spherical and their surfaces have crown types spikes present.
The Wuhan coronavirus, or 2019-nCoV, is a type of new virus and it can cause infection in your nose, sinuses or upper throat and respiratory tract.
Coronavirus can cause of illnesses like the common cold and more severe diseases like Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV).
But it is more infectious, it can spread through animal to human and human to human.
Covid-19 or sometimes used interchangeably with coronavirus and the official name SARS-CoV-2 or covid-19 refers to the disease the virus causes. So SARS-CoV-2 causes covid-19, just in case of HIV causes AIDS.

The new coronavirus was transmitted surprisingly from animals to people and human to human.
The prime suspect so far is –
A new virus and called the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been identified as the cause of a disease outbreak that began in China first in the Wuhan area.
The disease is called -coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Because this virus is so new and not much is known about it yet. Continuous research is going on.
Public health groups, such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S are trying to innovate.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), are investigating.
The new coronavirus appears to be spreading from person to person, so, be careful.
It may be spread by respiratory droplets when someone infected with the virus coughs or sneezes even talking.
It’s unclear exactly how contagious the virus is!

AS per WHO and CDC recommendation some usual precautions are given below-
- Always wash your hands with soap or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with warm water.

- Clean surfaces you often touch.
- Stay home from work or school and public areas when you’re sick.
CDC doesn’t recommend that healthy people wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19 but for precaution purposes, they can wear..
Only wear a mask if a health care provider tells you to do so.
In addition to the above, the WHO recommends these steps:
- Avoid eating raw or undercooked meat or animal organs.
- If you’re planning to travel internationally then first check the CDC and WHO websites for taking updates and advice.
Also, look for any health advisories that may be in a place where you plan to travel.
Still yet no such confirmed and specific antiviral treatment recommended for coronavirus infection.
